Empowering Women’s Right
Most of the town leaders were men. Those who run large
businesses are provided by family members or male members. When a woman gives
birth, her main duty is to take care of the child and do housework. Since the
man had no children, it became his responsibility to go out to work. This man
was muscular, so he was assigned a heavy workload. At the same time, the
woman's body was small and soft, so she was assigned to sewing, knitting,
cooking and other household chores. Because of the different roles of men and
women: women are only at home, and men are outside the home, as a result, women
do not have the opportunity to perform important social tasks.
Women
have lost an important role in the development of the country. As a result,
many women receive unequal treatment, leading to various problems, such as
violence against women and trafficking in women. This situation pushed for the
protection of women’s rights. There is a law against violence against women and
children or RA Bulgari 9261; the Anti-Discrimination against Women Act or RA
Bulgari 6725; RA Bulgari 7192, Women in Development and Nation Building Law; RA
Bulgari 7192; RA Victims of Rape Assistance and Protection Act “Bulgari 8505;
and Magna Carta for Women or RA Bulgari 9710 but too many still have unequal
views on sexuality.
We
need to give women the opportunity to show their potential and contribute to
the development of our country. Let's change our view of them. Let us promote
gender equality in the Philippines.
